Prayer Requests for Week Commencing    16 - 05 - 2011

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also, most months, publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for the last monthly prayer newsletter.

REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA

Rodney and Joy Brown (Capetown) – The Gospel meetings at Wellington were due to finish on 15th but were continued for another two nights. Please pray for those who have made a profession over the past two weeks of gospel preaching.

ZAMBIA

Eric and Margaret McCaughren (Kitwe) report that David Lukama is making a good recovery from the car accident (see April 25th Missionary Prayer Requests) and is due to be discharged soon. Maria is now speaking and taking food and Gift remains paralysed but now has some feeling in the lower half of his body. Please continue to remember this situation in your prayers.

Barry and Rachel Haigh (left) would value prayer as they prepare for their visit to Zambia 5th June until the end of September. They have a full programme of ministry, children’s camps and Bible schools. Also Barry is holding a week of Lunda language schooling for mission workers who want to learn the language.

INDIA

Ron and Lilo Penny (Bangalore) - Girls at Kollegal School, who will receive their High School exam results shortly, and want to apply for higher education, are prevented doing so due to financial implications. Many families are extremely poor. Prayer would be valued for wisdom as the trustees of Kollegal School meet during May to discuss this situation.

FRANCE

Graham and Alison Black – Asks prayer for Gaelle who will be baptised on the 22nd May, and her family, traditionally Catholic, who will probably attend. Her baptism was previously cancelled due to health problems.

IRELAND

John and Linda Stanfield (Limerick) - 20,000 gospel magazines are planned for distribution shortly. Prayer is asked that there will be many requests for Bibles and other literature.

MACEDONIA

Olive Wilson - Prayer is asked for an American team who will visit up to 100 Roma families 18th – 20th May. During these three days there will be intensive interpreting. Prayer is asked for those involved, for strength and blessing and for the follow-up work over the next few months.

Prayer is also asked for a Roma brother, Zani, who has been distributing New Testaments in the surrounding villages, that he will be encouraged and that the Word will bring fruit in these untouched areas. He has not always been well received due to ethnic prejudice. Zani is currently unemployed and would value prayer for this situation.

SPAIN

Ken and Alison Barrett asks prayer for a course being run by the Madrid Bible Teaching Centre 20th and 21st May. National worker Anonio Ruiz is teaching on ‘The History of Salvation in the Old Testament’. Prayer is asked for diligent students and spiritual blessing for the local churches involved.

LOCAL

Saturday night ministry meeting this week at 7:00 pm with Mike Lister (Doncaster) speaking on part of 1 Peter 4.
