MALAWI
Jonathan and
Ruth Newell (Blantye) ask us to
pray
about
Jonathan’s
Temporary Employment Permit. New
regulations seem to indicate that only two
renewals are allowed, but Jonathan had to
apply for a third renewal at the end of
January. So far he has heard nothing, so
pray
that he will obtain the permit without any
problems.
Pray also that some new, committed
members will be found for the editorial
committee of the ‘Challenge’
Christian newspaper. At present, most of the
work is falling on Jonathan’s shoulders.
ZAMBIA

Jean-Luc and
Rita Hainaut (Eliya) have informed
Echoes that
Rita’s mother went to be with the
Lord on 5th March. They are currently in
Belgium but plan to return to Zambia on
20th.
Pray
for Rita and
her father as they come to terms with
their loss.
Rita’s father was in hospital with
heart problems at the time of his wife’s
Homecall, and he will no doubt feel very
lonely when
Jean-Luc and
Rita
leave.
Paul and
Angela Hannay ask us to
pray
for the four student nurses at
Kalene Hospital, Zambia (three men
and one woman), who have failed their exams
and will be resitting them this week. They
are all mature students who are married with
children. Give thanks that most of the
students passed the course.
JAPAN
Ken and
Christine Cowell (Kushiro) request
prayer
for their 5th Live Gospel Concert being held
on 21st
March. Around 700-800 people normally
attend so it is a great opportunity to share
the gospel. Comments are made between the
songs and
Ken will be giving a short
message. Do
pray that the Lord will speak to many
hearts through this outreach. The Lord is
also at work amongst the choir members. Two
have been saved in recent weeks, one of whom
is to be baptised on 12th
April,
along with
Mr Saito for whom we have been
praying. Also,
please pray
for the salvation of
Miss Asakawa,
who is one of the leaders of the choir and
is very close to believing.
Pray,
too, for the English outreach being held on
22nd March,
to which about eight to ten people come.
MYANMAR
Peter Ferry
(Phuket) (right)
travels to
Myanmar
for a ten-day visit on
23rd March.
He will visit the cyclone-affected Delta
region initially, and after that will give
Bible teaching in
Yangon.
Please pray
for Peter
as he travels and that the Lord will bless
him and those he meets.
FRANCE
Alison
Packer (Laval) is due to have surgery
on 20th
March and will need to convalesce for
a month afterwards. The operation will take
place in Paris and she expects to be in
hospital for a week.
Pray
that there will be no complications and that
she will recover in time for her son
Loïc’s
baptism, planned for 19th April.
John Aitken
(Echoes Trustee) is visiting workers
in the south of France from
20th-29th
March, so please
pray
for him as he travels around and meets with
these folk, and that his visit will be a
mutual time of blessing and fellowship.
REPUBLIC OF
IRELAND
Noel and
Liza McMeekin (Cootehill) continue
their
Postal Bible School prize-givings
this week at
Celbridge on 18th,
Clonmel
and Mallow
on 19th, and
Cobh on 20th. Please continue to
pray
for the Noel
and Liza,
for safety as they travel, and for help for
the speakers as they make known the gospel
message. Pray for one man who attended the
prize-giving in
Abbeyleix
with his children. He has terminal cancer
and has been given approximately one year to
live.
ITALY
Please
pray
for a youth weekend being held in the
Naples
area on 21st
and 22nd March, when the theme will
be ‘Christianity
and Animism’.
Pray
that the young people attending would
consecrate their lives to the Lord and be a
blessing to their local churches.
