ETHIOPIA
The six-week Bible
School in
Chobi finishes this week. Give thanks
for the interest shown and for help given to
the teachers.
Pray
that all that has been said and done will be
blessed by the Lord and that the teaching
and fellowship will produce fruit to God’s
glory. Remember particularly
Kasahun
Chala, who leads the final sessions,
from
16th-21st.
ZAMBIA
Rita
Hainaut’s (Eliya) mother’s health has
deteriorated quite suddenly. The brain
tumour removed last
August
has showed up again and seems to be worse
than the first time. She was in hospital for
a little while but asked to return home. She
spends most of her time in bed, is no longer
eating and finds it very difficult to get up
and move. Last week she was to have
chemotherapy but the doctors cancelled it
plus all other planned sessions. Due to
these circumstances,
Jean-Luc
and Rita left
Lupiya
on 16th February and flying from
Lusaka
to Belgium on
19th.
Please pray
for Rita’s parents, and for
Jean-Luc and
Rita as they travel and during the
next few weeks as they cope with this
situation. At this stage, their plan is to
be in Belgium for a month.
On
16th
February,
Eric
McCaughren (Kitwe) began two weeks of
teaching the basic principles of Bible
interpretation, aimed especially at younger
men. Each evening session is for two hours.
Pray
that those who would benefit most may attend
faithfully.
BRAZIL
Harry Reid
(Santarem) will be having bypass
surgery at Mater Private Hospital, in
Dublin, on
19th February and would appreciate
prayer
for the operation and for a good recovery.
Jean
will be staying in a hotel adjacent to the
hospital, so please
pray
for her also during this time.
PANAMA
Hazel Walker (Santiago)
currently in Northern Ireland, is due to
have an operation on a throat cyst on
18th February.
Please
pray for
successful surgery and a quick recovery.
FRANCE
Ronnie
Skene (Figeac) (left))
is grateful for your
prayers
regarding his sciatica. The pain has reduced
and his doctor has given the all-clear for
his and
Heather’s visit to Northern Ireland,
which starts on 23rd
February.
Please pray
that Ronnie
will keep well and be able to fulfil his
speaking engagements.
Alison
Packer (Laval) has asked for
prayer
as she visits a consultant in Paris and has
an MRI scan on
18th
February. Pray
that this visit may shed light on the
reasons for her continuing health problems.
Yannick and
Margaret Ollivier (Quimper Region)
have sent an update on their situation.
Margaret
is to
have
the baby by caesarean on the
23rd
February at the University Hospital
in Rennes, which has a lot of experience in
treating babies with this condition and with
good results. In the meantime she has a
series of appointments with the surgeon,
paediatrician and others. While
Yannick
and Margaret
are looking forward to welcoming their baby,
they are also apprehensive.
Pray
that the Lord will give them the strength
and courage that they need at this time.
IRELAND
Noel and
Liza McMeekin (Cootehill)
continue their
Postal Bible School
prize-givings this week in
Cavan
at Belturbet
on 18th.
Please pray
for safety as they travel many miles and
especially during the hours of darkness, and
pray,
too, for a sense of God’s presence and for
help for the speakers as they make known the
gospel message.
AUSTRALIA
Please remember in
prayer
those who have been injured, bereaved or
traumatised as a result of the bush fires
currently raging in Victoria state. ECHOES
have had reports of believers losing their
lives and others have lost their
livelihoods.
Pray for
people who are now homeless and living in
tents.
