Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 13 - 04 - 09

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale, but this is not currently available on the web site.

TANZANIA

Allan and Jacqui McKinnon (Mohi) ask us to remember in prayer the GLO team at Moshi this week, for camps being held with 50 children from Moshi Christian Children’s Centre and the community project, and for the 40 children who are attending from a village orphanage. Many of these children will be HIV-positive. Please pray that they will come to know the Lord Jesus as Saviour.

JAPAN

Pray for Tom and Nui Hill (Koshigaya) who are going to Thailand in mid-April for a year’s sabbatical. Tom will be a research fellow at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok. Pray that he will be able to learn some of the Thai language and be a help to the believers during this time.

PAKISTAN

Your prayers for safety and wisdom are valued for the staff and pupils at Murree Christian School, who have been advised to stay on campus as there are credible reports of planned attacks on Christian schools and buses.

Please pray for Mae Logan (Northern Ireland), a teacher at Murree Christian School, who is mourning the loss of two family friends, and who also has a recurring fatigue problem to cope with. Pray that she will be comforted and find relief from her symptoms.

BRAZIL

Please pray for Elizabeth Alexander as she ministers at a ladies’ conference on 18th April.

CANADA

Peter Smith is in Timmins in northern Ontario this week for a series of Children’s Meetings. Only 9 arrived on Monday evening but that might have been because it was a holiday. He was expecting between 40—60.

At the recent Brandon Winter Fair over 500 'Gospel Message' CD's and 160 DVD's were taken, many by Hutterites, so Peter is looking to God to speak through these, as well as through the printed page.

 ALBANIA

Enris Nase (Tirana) is visiting towns in Kosovo this week in order to distribute shoebox gifts to children and tell them about God’s Easter gift. Pray for safety on the roads and for spiritual wisdom as he shares the gospel with the children.

FRANCE

Janice Duffin (Aix-e-Provence) is currently in Ireland visiting her brother Jamie, whose wife Rosemary has been called Home. Please pray for Janice as she seeks to be a support to Jamie and his teenage son at this time.

David and Brigitte Sutherland (Arras) request prayer for their church visit to Scotland from 18th-25th April. Pray for safety of travel, for good fellowship and that the Lord will bless this time together.

Briand Tatford is visiting Benin, in West Africa, this month. He will be involved in a retreat for full-time workers in the Benin Republic. Pray for safety in travel, for good health and for the Lord’s blessing on his ministry.

ITALY

Following last week’s earthquake, Echoes report that one child of a Romanian believer died, but no other believers lost their lives, although it is likely that many have lost property and possessions. A committee is being formed to channel financial aid, give practical help and carry out evangelistic work, and Echoes of Service will be sending help from the Disaster Fund once more specific information on needs is known.

In l’Aquila the believers are reported to be safe and are living  in tents as their homes are reported to be not safe until the situation is stabilised. The earth is still shaking and since last Monday they had more than 60 relatively minor earthquakes. Assemblies from Italy and abroad are trying to support the believers in l'Aquila. Your prayer and support is solicited.

LOCAL

"Coffee & Chat" each Wednesday morning at 10:30 am.

Mike Oakes is responsible for the Gospel Service next Sunday evening. For several weeks now there have been very few visitors attending.
