Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 11-10-2010

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also, most months, publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for the last monthly prayer newsletter.

 LESOTHO

Please pray for Mark and Malichaba West (Maseru), who had a break-in at their home on 4th October. Mark was confronted by a group of seven armed robbers, who stole three laptops and some cash. The incident happened around 7 pm while the children were playing outside. Please pray for the family following this traumatic experience and give thanks that no one was harmed.

THAILAND

Geoff and Pat Atkinson (Mae Sariang) would value prayer for a special children’s conference taking place this week, from 12th to 15th October. Last year about 250 children attended and numbers usually increase each year. Pray for the team of students from the Bible school as they help to run this event.

Peter Ferry (Phuket) (right)will be visiting China for a couple of weeks from Friday onwards. Please pray for him as he visits contacts and seeks to encourage them. He will be in Shanghai to start with and will visit Xining for five days from 21st, returning to Thailand on 27th.

ARGENTINA

Please remember in prayer, Gloria Morris, who has been unable to see properly since a blood vessel in her eye ruptured a few weeks ago. She is receiving medical treatment and the doctors have said healing normally takes two months from the original rupture. She is planned with Charles to be in Argentina till 2nd November and was to speak at the Annual Conference of a Women’s Missionary Fellowship.

CANADA

Peter Smith this week has ministry in Edmonton for one night, followed by a couple of nights in Coalhurst. Then on Friday, God willing, he crosses the USA border and heads for Okanogan for the first of four series of Treasure Seekers. Our prayers would be appreciated for these responsibilities.

FRANCE

Graham and Alison Black (Bouc-Bel-Air) ask for prayer for a new Alpha course which is just starting. This time, instead of being held at the church, it will be in a couple’s home. Two people have promised to come and two others have shown interest.

Peter Wheeler (Arras) reports that the son of a lady in their fellowship, who has been in prison for several years, seems to have come to the Lord. He has known the gospel since he was a boy and several Christians have visited him in prison. Pray for him, as his faith will be tested when he is released in three months’ time.

SPAIN

Ken and Carmen Stunt (Almazan) will be visiting the Canary Islands from 21st October to 4th November. Ken has been asked to speak at a meeting where two new elders will be recognised, one of whom is the husband of their daughter Ana. Pray for Ken as he decides on an appropriate subject for his talk.

LEBANON

Please pray for Nigel and Annette White (Tyre). Nigel recently had his residency papers approved, but Annette has not received hers yet. This is the first time in 16 years that there has been a problem. Pray that the Lord will overrule in this situation.

LOCAL

Coffee & Chat each Wednesday morning at 10:30 am.

Paul Richardson (Harrogate) is with us  on Sunday for the preaching of the Gospel at 6:30 pm.
