Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 11- 08 - 08

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

DEM. REP. OF CONGO

Please pray for Cathie Rew (Katoka), currently in the UK, who had surgery last week. Pray that she will recover quickly and that the surgery will have been successful. William is also awaiting test results.

ETHIOPIA

A programme of study and prayer for youth leaders, particularly those who have responsibility for students in schools, is being held in Ginchi from 11th-14th August. Around 60 student leaders from assemblies around the area are expected to attend. Please pray for help for those who teach, attentiveness for those who listen and that much blessing will result.

ZAMBIA

Please remember in prayer Jean-Luc and Rita Hainaut (Eliya), who fly to Belgium on 14th August to be with Rita’s father, who has terminal cancer. Please pray that they will arrive safely and in time. They plan to be in the country for seven weeks.

JAPAN

Ken and Christine Cowell (Kushiro) have a Bible camp from 13th-16th August. Most of those attending will be young believers. Please pray that the Lord will speak to each one, bringing them into a closer relationship with Himself. Also, a Mrs Nakajima is very close to trusting the Lord, so prayer would be valued that she will make a commitment to Him.

MALAYSIA

Peter Ferry (Phuket, Thailand) is preparing to speak at a Bible Reading Conference in Kuala Lumpur later this month. He is teaching on Malachi in nine sessions over three days. Please pray for him as he travels from Thailand to Malaysia on 18th, and pray, too, for Peggy who will remain in Phuket.

FRANCE

Alison Packer still has the E. coli infection which is being controlled by antibiotics. However, she is not able to be on these long-term. She also suffers some pain. Give thanks, though, that she has regained her weight and is becoming active again. Mike has also been poorly recently. Please pray for full recovery.

Please pray for safe travel for all the workers attending the European Workers’ Conference being held in the French Alps from 16th-23rd August. Pray for a refreshing time of fellowship and for Alexander Strauch who is giving the Bible teaching this year.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Noel and Liza McMeekin ask us to pray for those attending the Loughoona Bible Club week, which starts on 11th August. Pray for the Word of God to take root in the hearts and minds of these youngsters and that lasting contacts will be made.

LOCAL

"Coffee & Chat" on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 am.  Very few visitors are attending so we would very much welcome you.

Open Air witness at 5:30 pm on Sunday evening.

Stephen Downs (Harrogate) is expected to be with us for the Gospel Service this Sunday at 6:30 pm.

Ian Campbell is taking the Peterborough Camp at Chepstow this week. He would value prayer support.
