Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 11 - 05 - 09

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale, but this is not currently available on the web site.

 REPUBLIC OF S. AFRICA

Terry and Jane Gilpin  (Murchison) would value prayer for a two-week series of outreach meetings which is being planned by the English-speaking assembly. They will take place in a nearby township where the level of crime, drunkenness and spiritual darkness is high. Please pray for the believers, that they will see blessing as they bring the light of God’s Word to this area.

JAPAN

Ronnie and Anne Cairns (Akashi) (right) will be in Izumo in mid-May for three days of evangelism, Bible teaching and fellowship with individual Christians. Later, towards the end of the month, they will attend a camp in Karuizawa, north of Tokyo, where Ronnie will be responsible for the daily evangelistic talks. Please pray that the Lord will give Ronnie the right words for these occasions.

Ken and Christine Cowell (Kushiro) are having a general farewell meeting on 17th May, before their return to the UK. Around 170 people will attend, many of whom will be non-Christians. These are folk whom the Cowells have known over the years they have lived in Kushiro. Pray that God will give boldness and wisdom as they share the gospel possibly for the last time to so many people. Please pray that God will speak to many hearts through the entire programme.

FRANCE

Alison Packer (Laval) has recently returned home after having treatment in Paris. An abscess was discovered, which was drained, and she was given intravenous antibiotics. She reports that she is now feeling much better and can concentrate on putting on weight.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

John and Linda Stanfield (Limerick) are taking their young people’s group away for the weekend on 16th May, and prayer is requested. Three of the teenage boys, Paddy, Gerry and Shane, recently stayed behind after the youth club and asked questions about heaven and hell and what it would mean for them to trust in Jesus.

VARIOUS AREAS

Mike and Ros Buckley will be taking a tour from 18th to 31st May to visit six small assemblies in the east of the country where they serve. Pray for them as they travel and seek to encourage and support the believers.

Peter and Sandra Brind will be flying out to the Bahamas on 18th May for a further 10-week mission trip. Pray for them as they seek to encourage the Christians and help with Bible teaching on three of the islands.

LOCAL

"Coffee & Chat" each Wednesday morning at 10:30 am.

David Clark is responsible for the Gospel Service on Sunday at 6:30 pm.
