Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 10 - 11 - 08

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

ANGOLA

Brian Howden is making a return visit to Angola until the 29th November.  His itinerary and Prayer Requests are displayed here.

CHAD

Please pray for Dawn Elliott as she visits Chad from the 12th November. She returns to the UK on 9th March. Those travelling with her but staying for one month only are Fred Holmes and Brian and Deirdre Davies. Please pray that all will be encouraged during their time away, and pray, too, for safety as they travel many miles.

(For information: Dawn Elliott is Australian and served in Chad with her late husband John from 1958-1967 and from 1976-1984. She lives in Bury St Edmunds and visits Chad for a few months each year. Brian and Deirdre Davies are from Bury St Edmunds too and Brian is on the Missionary Children’s Fund committee. Fred Holmes is one of the Trustees of Medical Missionary News.)

RWANDA

Peter Andrews is visiting Rwanda from 11th November-17th December. Please pray for safety of travel and that he will be an encouragement to the believers there.

Chrissie Mulindabigwi (Kigali) (left) reports that refugees at Goma have so appreciated the support received and have thanked the Lord that they have been remembered. On the political front, the situation is less tense, with the rebel groups  now fighting 60 km away from Goma.

PHILIPPINES

Please pray for Jonathan Bradford as he teaches ‘Basic Doctrines’ to a group of 600 new students at Christ’s Commission Fellowship each Wednesday evening and Saturday morning throughout November. The classes will include tests, assignments and a final exam. Workbooks and PowerPoint presentations are currently being prepared.

CANADA

Peter Smith  requests special prayer for the small assembly of Port Alberni, Vancouver Island, BC as they prepare for a two week children's series from 17th - 28th Nov. D.V. Please pray that the local community will respond favourably and that the saints will have the encouragement of seeing many new recruits join their Sunday School.

AUSTRIA

Rosemary Atkinson (Salzburg) underwent surgery last week. She is currently in hospital and we are asked to remember her in our prayers.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Robert McAllister, who has worked in the Dublin area for many years, has been diagnosed with a brain tumour and is awaiting transfer from a Dublin Hospital to Beaumont Hospital, nearer to where he and his wife Jean live. Please pray for Robert especially, and for Jean and the family, as they wait for more specific news on his condition.

ITALY

Please pray for Robert and Muriel Hamilton, who are visiting Naples from 12th-18th November to complete some teaching sessions with the adult Bible class in Fuorigrotta and to preach both there and at Barra. It will also be an occasion to catch up with folk with whom they worked for 17 years. In the evening of 16th, the Fuorigrotta church are planning to watch the evangelistic film ‘Luther’, so please pray that those invited will go along and be challenged. Patrizio Zucchetto will be responsible for the evening. In addition, six people are to be baptised in the Pozzuoli church on 23rd November, and Patrizio will be the speaker. Please pray for him, for the witness of those being baptised and that the Lord will touch hearts.

LOCAL

Please remember in prayer "Coffee & Chat" on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 am. It’s a happy little group of about 12 that gets-together informally; in practice we have had no new people now for many weeks.

Alan Barber (Hartlepool) is the planned speaker for the Gospel Service next Sunday at 6:30 pm.
