Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 09-06-08

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

RWANDA

Jano and Chrissie Mulindabigwi  (Kigali) request prayer for a women’s seminar being held from Wednesday to Saturday, when between 120 and 150 ladies from churches all over Rwanda are expected to attend. This seminar will focus on the important subject of mentoring and they will be studying the life of Naomi and her relationship with Ruth. Pray for safety, health and a willingness to learn and openly share together.

ZAMBIA

Barry and Rachel Haigh (Redditch) are travelling to Zambia on 16th June, and are staying until 19th August. They have plenty of engagements lined up, including Bible schools, youth camps, a bush conference and church visitation, as well as meeting up with friends, so it will be a busy and tiring time for them. The pre-school which Rachel started before retiring will need help with restocking lessons. Barry is looking forward to teaching again in the Lunda language. Please pray that they will be a blessing to those they meet and that they, too, will receive encouragement from the Lord. Pray also that they will both keep healthy and that the Lord will protect them as they travel.

Please remember the GLO teams in Tanzania (Moshi/Dar-es-Salaam, 13th-28th June).

JAPAN

David and Esther Dexter (Miyazaki) have been actively preparing for a special weekend on 14th and 15th June, when a couple from Fukuoka will be with them to share in teaching and outreach. Please pray for new folk to join them on this occasion and that the regulars will grow in their understanding of spiritual matters.

ETHNIC MINORITIES

Ruth Cushing has requested prayer for the afternoon of 15th June, when the group she is linked with will have a free tent at a local Asian carnival. Literature and audiovisuals will be on display and they hope to be able to share the good news with people. Please pray for some good contacts as a result of this outreach.

FRANCE

Allan and Anne Kitt (Villefranche-sur-Saone) mention that they are having a baptism service on 15th June. The candidate is Milly, a young woman from a Christian family in Kenya who has been working in France as an au pair and came to faith while visiting a Christian friend in Paris. She will be returning to Kenya shortly, but wanted to be baptised before going back. Pray, too, for the homes around the assembly who have been receiving tracts regularly for the past three months. At the end of June, a personal visit to as many of these homes as possible is planned, to ask householders if they would like to continue receiving the tracts. Please pray that the Lord will go before and prepare hearts to respond positively.

ITALY

Paul and Nesta Volle (Montespertoli) (right) ask for prayer for the GLO outreach at La Scala from 14th-23rd June. Leo and Angela Isac will be leading the team, which will mostly be involved in children’s meetings in the afternoons and special meetings in the evenings. Pray that many will have the opportunity of hearing the gospel.

David and Marion Mead (Rivanazzano) ask prayer for 3 believers who are to be baptised at Pietragavina on 15th June— two Albanians and one Italian.

SPAIN

Terry and Kath Wickham (Valencia) need our continued prayers. Kath’s heart surgery went off successfully, but after 24 hours there were complications and she had to undergo a second operation. She is in Intensive Care and the doctors have done all they can. Please pray that the Lord will intervene and bring her through to a complete recovery.

 LOCAL

Informal Coffee Morning each Wednesday, at 10:30 am. It has been good to develop a small number of regulars, but please pray that additional people might start to come along.

Mike Oakes (Redcar) is responsible for the preaching of the Gospel on the 15th.
