(Katoka) is planned to return to the
Congo on
12th April with
Jonathan
Sisterson, who is going to
Katoka
for four months.
RWANDA
Peter
Andrews (Kigali) reminds us that
Tuesday this week sees the 15th anniversary
of the start of the genocide, when many
people will be remembering what happened all
those years ago in the country. For the next
week everything will be done with these
events in mind. He says that from the dark
days has come a real awakening of spiritual
need and churches are experiencing
tremendous growth.
ZAMBIA
Please
pray
for new workers
Andrew and
Amanda Kirk as they prepare to leave
the UK on
13th April and travel to Zambia,
where they will be teaching at
Amano Christian School.
Pray
that they will quickly settle into their
roles and new routine. Their two sons,
Samuel
and Joseph,
will also be attending the school, so
pray
that they will make new friends and enjoy
this adventure.
INDIA
V. Paul Raju
(Bethesda Leprosy Hospital) requests
prayer
for their matron,
Varalaxmi,
who is currently awaiting surgery at the
cancer hospital in Hyderabad. Give thanks
that
Keertana, daughter of one of
Bethesda’s schoolteachers, has returned home
much improved after four months of
radiotherapy.
JAPAN
Ken and
Christine Cowell (Kushiro) have a
special outreach on Easter Sunday,
incorporating different singing groups.
Ken
will be giving the message and
prayer
is requested that many non-Christians will
attend and that the Lord will speak to their
hearts.
ARGENTINA
Dick and
Irene Robertson (Oran) ask for
prayer
over the Easter weekend, when special gospel
meetings will be held with a visiting
speaker who is a national missionary. On
Thursday
eight teenagers will be baptised, including
two members of the
Robertsons’
own family. On
Friday
there is a youth retreat, followed by a
gospel service in the evening. Meetings
continue on
Saturday and
Sunday,
both in Oran
and in another town where a new Sunday
school was started last year.
Prayer
is also requested for thousands of people in
Oran who are suffering with
Dengue fever. The epidemic is getting
out of control and fumigation takes place
daily to try and get rid of the mosquitoes.
Please pray
for a solution to this problem.
BRAZIL
Jeff and
Denise Watson (Foz) report that
Agueda
is to be baptised on Easter
Sunday
at the end of their annual
conference. Please
pray
that she will continue to trust the Lord for
her needs.
Pray that there may be some present
who do not know the Saviour, and that the
messages will speak to all who attend,
whether they are believers or not.
PANAMA
Clive and
Hazel Walker (Santiago) request
prayer
for Sandalio
Bordonez, who fell head first out of
a palm tree last Monday. Years ago
Sandalio
was active in the San Soledad church, but in
recent years he has been living for himself.
Please pray
that he will see how close he was to death
and that he will put the Lord first in his
life.
ALBANIA
Enris Nase
(Tirana) is visiting 2 towns in the
SE Albania this week in order to distribute
shoebox gifts to children and tell them
about God’s Easter gift. Next week he will
do the same in
Kosovo.
Pray
for safety on the roads and for spiritual
wisdom as he shares the gospel with the
children.
EASTERN
EUROPE
Martin and
Margaret Baker are planning to visit
Bratislava,
Slovakia, over the Easter period for the
assembly conference. Please
pray
for them as they travel and that their time
of fellowship and sharing will be blessed by
the Lord.
FRANCE
Please remember to
pray for
Briand Tatford, who will be in
Benin
this week. His plans include visiting the
Eau Vive Bible Training base,
speaking at the Easter Conference in
Porto Novo,
and attending a retreat for church leaders
and elders.
Pray that he will be given strength
to cope with the sub-Saharan humidity and
heat. Another believer will accompany him
and give lectures to the team running the
Eau Vive
dispensary in
Cotonou.
REPUBLIC OF
IRELAND
Please
pray
for Noel
McMeekin who will be distributing
tracts door-to-door to every home in
Cootehill
on Easter
Friday and Saturday.
Andrew and
Gillian Shanks (Newcastle West) are
running an Easter
Holiday
Bible Club for children from Monday
to Friday this week. Please
pray
that many local children will attend and
that some will be allowed to start attending
the regular weekly children’s meeting.
ITALY
Adino and
Eleanor Ricossa ask us to
pray
for those who have suffered in the recent
earthquake which has destroyed many homes
and buildings in central Italy.
