Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 05-11-2007

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

JAPAN

Ken and Christine Cowell (Kushiro) ask for special prayer for two ladies’ outreaches taking place this week. A cooking class will be held on Wednesday 7th and a craft class this coming Saturday. A short message will be given at each of these events, and a number of unsaved ladies will be present.

MEXICO

Please pray for all those who have been affected by the floods in the State of Tabasco. More bad weather has been predicted, so please pray that the floods will not rise any higher.

EASTERN EUROPE

Martin and Margaret Baker request prayer for a visit to assemblies in Poland from 6th-21st November for ministry. Please pray for safe travel, and that their visit will be a blessing and an encouragement to the believers.

FRANCE

On November 11-12, Jonathan Hanley (Cavaillon) is in Paris translating for American Christian author Philip Yancey. While there, the TV channel France 3 want to film Jonathan and put together a programme about his work and ministry, focusing particularly on the AIDS work. Praise God for this opportunity and pray for the Lord’s help for Jonathan.

Christian and Catherine Moreau (Chateau-Gontier) ask for prayer for a special outreach event to be held on 9th November. This will take the form of a pancake evening, but there will also be a strong Breton feel to the event, with bagpipes and all! Alain Monclair (Quimper) will be giving his testimony, and they hope to have 40-50 people attending. Please pray that people will respond to the invitations.

Alison Packer had a consultation only with the surgeon on 30th October, who explained that she is to have a four-hour operation on 14th November, staying in hospital for 8-12 days. She should receive the results while she’s in hospital, which will enable the doctor to ascertain the nature of further treatment. She says she was able to witness to the surgeon during the consultation, so please pray that she will have further opportunities to speak for the Lord. She and Mike are conscious of and grateful for the prayers of many, and Alison says she has a real sense of peace and trust. She asks prayer particularly for the children; Sebastien (18) is due to leave for Spain while she’s in hospital.

ITALY

Nesta Volle (Montespertoli) has recently had medical tests, the outcome of which will not be known for about a month. She is also scheduled to have her first cataract operation in Siena on 13th November, and prayer is requested for these health issues. In addition, Paul and Nesta advise that the daily reading Scripture calendars are ready to be distributed in Tuscany to known contacts. Please pray for a good response.

SPAIN

Kath Wickham (Valencia) was taken into hospital on 26th October after suffering two successive angina attacks. Specialists have concluded that she needs a double heart bypass operation and a valve replacement, which will take place within the next week or two. Please remember her and Terry in your prayers at this time.

LOCAL

The monthly visit to Wheatacres is planned for next Sunday, 11th November at 5:15 pm. Please note the slightly later time.

Paul Malcolm (N. Shields) is responsible for the Gospel Service this Sunday at 6:30 pm.
