Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 05-07-2010

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also, most months, publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for the last month's prayer newsletter.

TANZANIA

Stephen and Gill Davies (Dar-es-Salaam) ask for prayer for the assembly during their three-month furlough. Numbers have been depleted lately, so pray that the Lord will bless the work and give help to those leading the group in their absence.

Steve & Gill expect to be with us at Redcar on Wednesday, 4th August to give a report on their work.

ZAMBIA

Amanda Kirk (Chingola) is making steady but slow progress from surgery following the vehicle accident in April. Her head wound has healed, but she still has some back pain and does not yet have full movement in two fingers. She has physiotherapy twice a week. Continue to pray for her.

Please  continue to remember in prayer Barry & Rachel Haigh, at Nyangombe for the next 4 months. There has been no news about the court case concerning ownership of the land and property.

Pray for a new worker, Debbie Scott, as she settles into her new surroundings and work at Amano Christian School.

CAMBODIA

Jonathan Edwards, aged 20, commended from Stockton, has recently arrived in Cambodia to begin a period of short-term service, working with Glenn and Siobhan Miles  (Phnom Penh) with street children.  Pray for his protection, guidance and provision. He has a “blog”, and his progress can be found on: http://jonnycambodia.blogspot.com. He returns to the UK on 25th August.

ARGENTINA

Pray for Bobby Jack (Buenos Aires) as he travels 900 km north to speak at the annual conference in Beltran from 9th to 11th July. He will give ministry on the subject of Solomon’s Temple, using the model he has built.

BAHAMAS

Pray for Mark and Carol Lacey as they return to the Bahamas to continue work at The Haven. Both of them have health issues and are  concerned about the excessive heat  and humidity in Nassau. Give thanks for answered prayer, that those who maintained the work in their absence were helped and blessed by the Lord.

ECUADOR

Christine Fenning (Ipswich) has recently returned to Ecuador for a further period of service. She hopes to retire next April and requests prayer that a replacement will be found to run the Emmaus work in Santo Domingo.

PERU

From 9th-10th July, Luis Mostacero (Trujillo) and a group of men from the church will be away on a retreat. This is the first time they have organised a men’s retreat and they are praying that many will attend and be challenged by the Word of God.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Andrew and Lorna Burt and the church in Enniscorthy are currently preparing for the GLO team planned for 7th-21st August. In addition to the week-long children’s club, they are organising a youth club, a men’s night, an over-60s afternoon tea and a family fun day. They will also be distributing 4,000 magazines. Pray that these two weeks will be an effective outreach into the community.

MACEDONIA

Olive Wilson (Bitola) has had to leave Macedonia after a three-month spell due to visa regulations. She has applied for a six-month visa and is waiting to hear from the embassy. Pray that this will be granted.

SPAIN

Pray for Ken Barrett (Madrid) as he gives a seminar on ‘The Biblical Basis of Ethics – Contemporary Issues’ at a summer school in Madrid on 9th July. The 20 or so students are those who are training as teachers of Evangelical Religious Education in Spanish state schools.

FINALLY

Sam Balmer, who works with the Postal Bible School, is in Romania all this week for the Romanian Postal Bible School junior camp. Pray for him as he speaks to the children each day.

LOCAL

Coffee & Chat each Wednesday morning at 10:30 am.

An open air witness is planned in Redcar High Street on Sunday, at 2:00 pm.

John Hall (Harrogate) is planned to be with us for the preaching of the Gospel on Sunday at 6:30 pm.
