Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 04- 02 -2008

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

ETHIOPIA

National worker Mulugeta Ashagre advises that he and his co-workers Alimu, Debebe and Bedada are visiting Chobi from 8th-11th February to take training sessions for around 200 leaders from 60 local assemblies. Please pray for help for Mulugeta and the team and that all who attend will benefit from joining together for fellowship and study around the Word of God. During this time also, the third-year Bible school students will be graduating. Pray that the Lord will clearly guide these students as they consider their future service for the Lord.

KENYA

John and Yokey Roberts (Nairobi) ask us to continue in prayer for the peace and restoration of law and order in Kenya, and for a political solution to the country’s problems. Pray, too, for the healing of the ethnic divisions throughout the country. Pray for relief work being carried out, especially by Ishmael Ochieng and other assembly-commended national workers.

RWANDA

Jano and Chrissie Mulindabigwi (Kigali) request prayer for a team of 5 people who are going out from Northern Ireland to visit them. They will stay for ten days, from 7th-17th February, and will be shown all aspects of the work in and around Kigali. Pray that they will be kept in good health and for safety in travel.

TANZANIA

William Rea (Moshi) is currently travelling around the north-west areas of Tanzania, visiting students in their home situations, encouraging them and visiting their churches. He will also be recruiting new students and promoting the course run at Berea Bible College. Communication in this vast country is very poor and word of mouth is the most effective way of informing people. Please pray for safety as he drives so far, and for Eunice who remains at home. William will be returning to Moshi early next week.

PERU

Ken and Alison Barrett, currently in Peru, are grateful for the prayers of many for their safe travel. They are currently in Lima and have an intensive ten days ahead ministering among the churches of the valley of the River Jetequepeque and Cajamarca. Please pray for spiritual freshness in their ministry and that the believers will be built up in their faith.

FRANCE

Ronnie and Heather Skene (Figeac) are in Northern Ireland from 11th February-7th March for report meetings and visits, and request prayer for the assembly in their absence. Pray especially for Pascal, who, in spite of a very demanding job, is fully committed to the work.

Graham & Alison Black (Marseille) report  that on the 11th 12th and 13th February, another series of radio programmes will be recorded. Daniel CORONES will be doing these programmes. Please remember Daniel as a French full time worker along with his wife and two children and as he comes and records these programmes.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Please remember Noel and Liza McMeekin (Cootehill) in your prayers as they start the round of Postal Bible School prize givings for another year. On 9th February they will be in Sligo. Please pray for a sense of God’s presence and help for the speaker as he makes known the gospel message to those who are not used to hearing it.

Colin and Rosemary Sheldon (Dublin) are planning an outreach meeting in a local community centre on 10th February. The theme is ‘Love – sentimental or real?’ and a varied programme has been arranged, with Colin bringing a gospel message at the end of the evening. Invitations have been delivered to homes around the area, so please pray that folk will respond by attending this event.

VARIOUS AREAS

John and Claire Wadsworth advise that they will be holding a three-day retreat from 10th-13th February with 18 young people from remote villages. Please pray for them during this time.

LOCAL

"Coffee & Chat", 10:30 am to 12:00 pm, on Wednesday, 6th February. Please pray that if it is the Lord's will, this informal time together will be used by Him to bring real blessing to those living in the locality of the Gospel Hall.

The monthly visit to Wheatacres is scheduled for this coming Sunday at 5:15 pm.

Terry McConway (Gateshead) is responsible for the Gospel Service this coming Sunday at 6:30 pm.
