Prayer Requests for Week Commencing: 03-09-12

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also, most months, publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for the last monthly prayer newsletter.

REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA

Rodney and Joy Brown (Cape Town) - Rodney has been invited to preach the Gospel for a week at Hawston, commencing on the 9th September. He is to be staying in the area and also hopes to preach in the open air and distribute literature on the streets. Prayer is requested for a time of blessing.

TANZANIA

Ron and Maria Cunningham (Moshi) would value prayer for the re-commencement of the school classes and the opportunity for sharing the Word of God. During the past few months they have been able to sell 160 Bibles at a reduced price to the students. In addition they give thanks that Maria's health has shown some improvement and ask pray that this will continue.

ZAMBIA

Paul and Angela Hannay (Kalene) ask prayer for safety in travel as they return to the UK for furlough on Wednesday 5th SeptemberPray for Dr John and Rachel Woodfield (from New Zealand) as they leave Kalene after working 5 years at the hospital, and for Dr Roger and Rita Holland who will take over. The new theatre has now been completed and there will be an official opening on Wednesday 5th September.

JAPAN

Ronnie and Anne Cairns (Ashiya) would value prayer as they prepare to travel to Japan for 2 months, leaving the UK on 18th September.  Their visit will include teaching and ministry in various places and taking part in Gospel outreach. Pray for them in their busy schedule, that they would be a blessing and encouragement to all the believers they meet.

David and Esther Dexter (Miyazaki) - David (right) is planned to visit the prison on 4th September for Bible Study and on 21st September for a new prisoner’s class.  Pray that during this class (21st) David will be able to communicate something meaningful, as this one is a compulsory attendance class where ‘religion’ or reference to God is not allowed.

FRANCE

Chris and Michelle Hall (Chateau-Gontier) ask prayer for a meeting due to take place on 22nd September with the council, in response to a request for a room in the town to use as a permanent basis, which would give them more visible presence in the town.  Pray that there will be a positive outcome from the council.

PORTUGAL

Colin and Grace Lovell (DPG Portugal 1968-2011) ask prayer for the Aguas Vivas Church in Portugal, where believers have just begun working amongst needy children and their families in the area. Pray that the Lord will give them wisdom and understanding, and that these families will come to know Christ.
