Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 02-08-2010

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also, most months, publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for the last month's prayer newsletter.

ZIMBABWE

Deryck Jones (Harare) advises that a couple from his Thursday night Bible study group were attacked by robbers outside their home last Monday. They were both stabbed and the wife later died in hospital. The husband, who is in his 60s, had just had surgery to remove a brain tumour. Please pray for him and his family. One of his daughters is caring for him.

PAKISTAN

Pray for those who have been affected by the recent floods in north-west Pakistan. Echoes is not in direct contact with any workers in that area of Pakistan, but we are following up our contacts in the country and funds are available to be sent once we have more information.

CANADA

Remember in prayer Peter Smith who has started the first of a series of Tent Meetings. In Portage la Prairie we are having morning children's meetings. Aug. 2nd - 6th near  their hall.

PERU

Luis and Anne-Laure Mostacero (Trujillo)  would value prayer as they take part in the National Youth Conference being held from 5th to 8th August.

FRANCE

David and Brigitte Sutherland (Arras) are involved in a two-week camp this month. David will lead the children’s ministries and Brigitte will be cooking for over 160 people. Pray for renewed strength, as they are both feeling quite tired at present.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Noel and Liza McMeekin would value prayer for the Holiday Bible Club being held in Riverchapel this week.

During this month, Michael and Shirley McKillen (Gorey) will be helping with a holiday Bible club organised by the Wicklow Christian Assembly. Pray for the Lord’s blessing on this outreach.

ITALY

Remember Alec Catchpole Naples) as he speaks at the young people’s camp in Foggia starting on Saturday. Pray that he will be able to make the most of the opportunity to get to know these young folk and help them with their problems.

ROMANIA

Sam Balmer, who works with the Postal Bible School, is in Romania all this week for the Romanian Postal Bible School senior camp. Pray for him as he speaks to the children each day.

GLO

Please remember the GLO team outreaches taking place in the Republic of Ireland this month. These are in Limerick from 7th to 14th August and in Enniscorthy from 7th to 21st. Pray that the team members will be kept in good health and be effective in their witness.

French national worker Philippe Perrilliat is leading the GLO team in Madagascar this week. Pray for these 24 young people as they engage in various forms of evangelism among children and adults.

LOCAL

Coffee and Chat each Wednesday morning at 10:30 am. This is an informal time for making friends with the "neighbours". Please pray that the Lord will bless these times.

Robert Plant (Harrogate) is planned to be with us for the preaching of the Gospel on Sunday evening at 6:30 pm. Please pray  that the Lord will use the occasion to bring precious souls to Himself.

The visit of the Tall Ships to Hartlepool (7th—10th August) is giving the Hartlepool Assembly a unique opportunity to witness in a “big way”. It is planned that 40,000 John Gospels and other literature will be given to visitors. Over 50,000 Gospels and tracts have already been distributed to each house in the town. Try and get along to Victoria Harbour, Hartlepool, if you can, and remember daily in prayer.
