Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 01 - 12 - 08

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

ETHIOPIA

Mulugeta Ashagre (national worker) and co-workers, Kassa and Debebe, will be visiting Chobi from 4th-8th December; a conference will be held in Yubdo and in Chobi at the weekend. Please pray for all the practical arrangements and that this time together will be blessed by the Lord.

MALAWI

John and Priscilla Finegan (Zomba) (pictured right) are delighted that the long-awaited container of new Chichewa Bibles has come through Customs and is currently being unloaded. They have not had Bibles available for over a year, so it will be good to have new ones to use in the Emmaus work in the prisons.

TANZANIA

Ron and Maria Cunningham (Moshi) (pictured left) request prayer for a week of children’s meetings being held from 1st-5th December with the Bethel Assembly in Moshi town. Please pray that those invited will attend and that the use of the loudspeaker will reach some who might not otherwise have heard. Pray for safety, too, as the children cross a very busy highway to get to the venue. Pray for fruit as the gospel message is heard.

JAPAN

Ken and Christine Cowell (Kushiro) are delighted that Tomoe professed faith last Saturday. Give thanks for this encouragement and pray for her spiritual growth. Pray on for her husband Eric, that he will also begin to seek the Lord.

David and Esther Dexter (Miyazaki) request prayer for various Christmas events coming up, the first of which is on 7th December. This will be the responsibility of the international group and the only free occasion to rent the public hall. David will give the main talk and would value prayer that the Lord will enable him to give a clear and concise message which will be challenging to those present.

ARGENTINA

Please pray for a retreat being held in Cordoba from 4th-8th December. Bobby Jack (Buenos Aires) is working with a team of national Christians, which has recently started as a postgraduate work of the Muller Bible School. The first 3 days will be for missionaries from the surrounding area, followed by 3 days for those who feel God is calling them to serve Him in a deeper way. Around 60 people are expected to attend.

BOLIVIA

Kenny and Claudia Holt (Trinidad) are pleased to announce the birth of their son Joshua. Please pray for Claudia as she recovers and that the Lord will have his hand on this precious new life.

 BELGIUM

Anne Dryburgh (Gent) would value prayer for special meetings being held in Gent and Maldegem during December, when an evangelist will be sharing his testimony and the gospel. Please pray that believers will invite family and friends, that the invitations will be accepted and that the Saviour Himself will be invited into hearts and lives during this time. Also, the Maldegem fellowship will be distributing an evangelistic magazine in the town around Christmastime. Please pray that this exercise will bear fruit.

FRANCE

Alan and Valerie Kyle would appreciate prayer for the annual ladies’ Christmas outreach in Petite Synthe assembly, Dunkerque, planned for Friday 5th December. Up to 90 ladies are expected for a meal, to sing Christmas carols and to listen to a gospel presentation. Valerie is doing the presentation this year.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Andrew and Gillian Shanks (Newcastle West) request prayer for a special Christmas outreach being held on 7th December. The children will be taking part and their families invited. Noel McMeekin will be the speaker, so please pray for the Lord’s help for him and that as a result of this outreach someone will come to know the Lord.
