WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE?

The only person able to give eternal life - Answer:

The Lord Jesus declared (John 14:6), 'I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by Me.' Jesus is the only way to eternal life. He alone is the support of spiritual life; His doctrines give life and peace to the soul.

In order to be saved and have eternal life, a man must come to the Lord Jesus and accept Him by faith, recognising that He is the Son of God and the Saviour of the world. John 6:47  - 'he that believes on Me has everlasting life' - is one of the clearest and briefest statements in all the Word of God concerning the way of salvation and eternal (everlasting) life. The Lord Jesus stated in words that can hardly be misunderstood—that whoever believes in Him has everlasting life. However. we need to recognise that "believing" means more than simply head knowledge, believing, for example, that He once lived on earth. We might believe that we can catch a bus and go to town, but it doesn't mean we are in town. That's only going to happen if we actually get on the bus. Merely believing is not enough! James 2.19 tells us that the demons believe ... and tremble.

So there is a bit more to "belief" than simply "head knowledge". The Bible tells us what to 'believe', but we must put into action by faith what that belief is all about. Faith comes by hearing the word of God (Rom. 10. 17)The message of the Christian gospel is that Jesus Christ is God’s only Son who became human – the God-Man – to live, to die, to be buried, to be raised from the dead and ascend into heaven… all in order to become OUR Saviour from sin!

John 6. 47 is one of many verses in the New Testament section of the Bible that teaches that salvation is not by works, not by law-keeping, not by church membership, not by obeying the Golden Rule, but simply by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ. The believer in Christ has eternal life because he/she gives him/herself to Him, trusting in Him alone to be saved from the penalty of sin.  When you receive Jesus Christ as your Saviour from sin, you live forever.

Eternal life is a matter of believing that God came in human flesh in the Person of Jesus Christ who died as a substitute in our place,  bearing our sins in His own body upon the tree.

In John 6:68, Simon Peter asks the question to the Lord Jesus Christ, 'Lord to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life'.
