WINGS LIKE A
DOVE
Oh
that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly
away, and be at rest. Psa 55:6
Which of us has not felt at times as David
did, when he wrote the above. During his darkest days David longed
for wings like a dove to escape all that brought him pain. This is a
natural feeling. All of us at some time have felt like getting away,
just packing our bags and saying, "I've had enough! I can't take
anymore! I've got to get away." But “flying away” is not a good
solution to any problem. We usually take our problems with us. We
can go on holiday and enjoy a short respite. But when we return, the
battles and burdens are still there. But, if we must retreat, let it
always be into the presence of God. There we shall get things back
into perspective and gain new resources of peace, assurance and
strength. We don't need the wings of a dove to fly away. We need the
wings of an eagle. Isa 40:31
says, "Those who wait on the Lord shall
renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles."
The eagle faces the storm, spreads his great wings, and allows the
wind to lift him above the storm.
