OLD AGE

And even to your old age I am He; and even to hoar (grey) hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you. Isa 46:4.

Not only does the Lord care for the little ones who need His protection, but He promises to carry His people all the way through life, even to old age. When His people reach "old age" and experience difficulties and limitations, we can remember He does not change. Our Lord used the illustration of a Shepherd finding His lost sheep, laying it on His shoulders, and not till He got it safely home did He lay it down. The child of God can rejoice in that! Again,  "He hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee" (Heb_13:5). In the light of this we should fear no distress, or concern about the future. At no time, under no circumstances, will God forsake His own. How safe we are!

As we grow older we have the Lord’s arm around us, carefully guiding our steps, carrying us, and delivering us.

Have we had a wilderness experience that we felt would never end? Was it loneliness, financial problems, ill health or other problems that went on and on and seemed to just get worse? And yet His care was there. He could say, “My grace is sufficient for you”.

He carries our cares, our burdens, and encourages us to "Cast all our care upon Him; for He cares for us" (1Pe_5:7). And we can always know this for, "The eternal God is our refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms” (Deu 33:27).

This should give us great confidence for the future. If the Lord has carried us this far, He’s not going to drop us now. The Lord will carry us to old age, even to our greying years. He will carry us through difficult times, delivering us time and time again, until He finally delivers us from the pain of this world to the joy of the next. One thing is for sure, no one else is going to get us there.
