…...till He come.
1 Cor 11:26.
The great
prospect before the Christian is the return of the Lord to the
skies. He Himself promised that if He was to go away, He
would come again and
receive us unto Himself (John
14:3). All Christians believe
that, but how many of us live our lives with that expectation in
view?
We talk about Christ’s return, but to what
extent do we really believe it? Can we measure how much His return
means to us? The Scriptures suggest a measure linked to the extent
we are constantly trying to purify ourselves. John writes, “Every
man that has this hope in him purifies himself”,
1 Joh 3:3. If
we are not seeking to purify ourselves, then the promise of the
Lord’s return is not foremost in our minds, however much we claim to
believe that He is coming, that we shall see Him, that we shall be
like Him, etc.
If we really believe the Lord Jesus is
coming for us—or even if we believe we will someday stand before Him
to give an account, we will make sure that we live our life in such
a way that it will count for God. This is the real test that will
prove whether or not we love Him and look for the Lord’s return.
For those who are not Believers, the truth
of Christ's return should lead to repentance of their sins and a
full commitment of their lives to Him as Lord and Saviour. Only
those who are in Christ will go to be with Him at the Rapture. The
rest will be left behind for judgment. What if it were today?
