THAILAND

Fabrizio and Elaine Toni (Chiang Mai) write that “Grace International School has been the subject of legal proceedings as to its ownership and the following is for information and prayer:

On the 18th December, GIS found out that the Thai Supreme Court denied the school ownership of the sports club, which has now been transferred to a local neighbourhood group. The school should be able to continue to operate as normal for the remainder of the academic year, though the leader’s need wisdom and guidance to know what decisions should be made for the future. Pray that the Lord will work in this situation and that His people will continue to rely on Him. Despite these unsettling times for the school, we feel more than ever the need for long term committed teachers to provide the needs of these precious missionary children, building or no building.

It’s also the week for their PBS mail-out.

Clive & Hazel Walker (Santiago) writes that the annual pilgrimage to ask favours of the Jesus of  Nazareth statue, is planned to take place between 10th-14th February; an estimated half-million of people will pass through the village. The people think the statue of Jesus has special powers  to answer prayers and peform miracles. Pray as we give out tracts and gospel calendars.

Pray also for all those who attend the Assembly  Conference from the 19th—21st February, that their lives will be touched by the Lord and that their relationship with Him will be deepened.

A property has become available for Clive & Hazel to purchase for the assembly. It is adjoining the house they are currently renting and is close to the main street. They have until the end of February to make the purchase. Please pray that they will be able to continue with the purchase of the property, and if it is of the Lord, that funds will become available for the purchase.

Please pray for safety in travel, good attendance, and for the Lord to be at work in the hearts of those who attend. Pray that Noel and Liza would be an encouragement to believers at the Prizegivings, in particular, those living in remote areas and those without access to Christian fellowship.

They give thanks for the young believers who attended the Step weekend. To see the real commitment in their lives is very encouraging. There is also a fortnightly teenagers Bible class that has been started by a young couple in the assembly. Please pray that these studies will have an impact on local young people, including some who have not yet trusted the Saviour.

Andy and Gillian Shanks (Newcastle West) – would value prayer for Gillian’s mother who was diagnosed with cancer last year. Please continue to pray for her and the family as she undergoes tests due to a recent infection. Please pray that she will respond well to the antibiotics for the infection and that the recent tests will help guide the doctors regarding further treatment.

In addition, please pray for Andy and Gillian as they start a new weekly evangelistic Bible study with a lady from the  27th January who has shown an interest in the gospel. Please pray that the Lord will give help as they study with her.
