ZAMBIA
Barry
& Rachel Haigh (Nyangombe) report
that they have had a children's camp with
over 800, a Bible school with 300, and 5
days teaching Dr John Woodfield, Lunda. It
has been a busy time. They start a 10 day
Bible School for Elders this week.
With regards to
the court case about the ownership of the
land and property at
Nyangombe,
there has been a court session to decide how
the case should proceed. The two men who
sued them falsely claimed to be the
representatives of the Christian Brethren
Churches and were suing on their behalf. The
judge said this was impossible as each
Brethren Assembly is autonomous. He ruled
that the name Christian Brethren must be
deleted from the case, an initial victory
for us. But he also ruled that they could
sue as private citizens if they wish but not
as church representatives. They have said
they will go ahead anyhow. They have also
said that if they lose the case, they will
mobilise a gang to come with weapons and
throw us out. So they still need
prayer.
Stephen and
Jo Grove (Chingola) ask us to
pray
for a member of the youth group who was
caught stealing from the mission building
two weeks ago. He made a profession of faith
a couple of years ago, but it seems doubtful
that he was sincere.
Pray
that the Lord will speak to him through this
experience.
JAPAN
David
and Esther Dexter Miyazaki) request
prayer
as they travel back to Japan on
1st
September. A typhoon is expected to
hit north Kyushu and Korea on 2nd, which
could cause problems when they change planes
in Seoul.
Pray that they will soon settle back
into their regular activities. Special
meetings are planned on
18th and
19th September, with brother
Okimi
as the speaker.
PAKISTAN
Please continue to
pray
for the flood victims and for those who are
trying to help them. Further sums have been
sent from our Disaster Fund to
Yunis
and Haroon
Lal Din and we are awaiting updates
on the situation.
BRAZIL
Give thanks that
Walter
Alexander’s surgery went well and he
was discharged two days later.
Pray
for him during the recuperation period, as
he finds it hard to step back from the
Lord’s work.
FRANCE
Geoff and
Annette Cawston (Angers) would value
prayer
for the church in Angers. Local authorities
have asked them to move out of their current
building to make way for new developments,
but as yet they have not been able to find a
suitable alternative. Consequently they do
not know where they will be meeting after
21st
September. Pray for a solution to
this problem. They expect to meet in homes
or in a hotel for the time being.
NORWAY
Mrs Margaret
Hewitt has asked us to
pray
for her Sunday school work, which she hopes
to start up again in September. She mentions
that she needs to find suitable workmen to
carry out repairs on the hall.
SPAIN
Ken Barrett
(Madrid) requests
prayer
as he goes to
Las Palmas,
Canary Islands, on
Monday 6th
September. He will be on board the OM
ship ‘Logos’ to represent the work in Spain
to ship members, local church leaders and
visitors for an intensive week. He has also
taken a sketch-board to get involved in
onshore evangelism and training.
Pray
that the Lord would raise up new labourers
from Spain for both the ship’s ministries
and the national work.
GLO
Please remember
the GLO team
outreaches taking place in
Vlorë,
Albania,
from 3rd to 13th September and in

Emilia,

Pray
that the team members will be kept in good
health and be effective in their witness.
