Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 28-04-08

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

JAPAN

David and Esther Dexter (Miyazaki) are meeting this coming Sunday afternoon with an international group for a picnic in a local park. There will be games and a testimony time, which is seen as a good opportunity to invite others to share with them. Please pray that contacts will be made and for lives to be touched with the gospel. In addition, David has been asked to give teaching in North Kyushu one weekend in the next month. Please pray that he will be helped in this task and that those who attend the meetings will be blessed by the teaching from God’s Word.

 FRANCE

We have not heard much news for some time on Lara, the young daughter of friends of Mike and Alison Packer (Laval), as she was doing well and was in remission. However, she is now back in hospital. She was playing with her sister in the garden one day, and the next she couldn’t walk. She is having lots of tests but the results are not yet known. Lara’s parents, Peter and Fabienne, have decided that Lara will have the last say in any treatment. Please pray for Lara and her sister, and for Peter and Fabienne as they face up to these painful decisions. Pray that they may really feel God’s presence with them at this time and give themselves over to Him entirely. In addition, Alison mentions that she is planned to have more tests on 29th April to try and explain the continued symptoms she has, and is grateful for our prayers.

Colin Crow (Montpellier) would value prayer for the annual assemblies’ conference which takes place in his area from 1st-3rd May. The main emphasis this year will be on involving young people and raising a generation of leaders. They hope to have 50 or more youth leaders attending, so pray for good communication between the generations.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Noel and Liza McMeekin have finally completed this year’s Bible School prize giving.  Please continue to pray for those who have heard the Gospel Message on these occasions, that the Word that has been proclaimed will accomplish that which He pleases.

PORTUGAL

Colin and Grace Lovell (Sintra) have informed us that a team from their church will be visiting schools and churches in Guinea-Bissau (West Africa), leaving on 2nd May. Please pray that the team will enjoy safety of travel and for the Lord’s blessing on all that is achieved during this time away.

SPAIN

Ken and Alison Barrett (Madrid) ask prayer for the Alcala Book Fair with which they are helping. They were thankful for the good weather and good interest shown over last weekend. Please pray for the witness of an evangelical stand and for contacts to be made. Also, this is a week of extra activity for preaching in Madrid City Centre. Please pray for those who are brought to Christ and for the continued tolerance of the police and authorities. Ken will be helping various teams on Thursday and Saturday. In addition, Ken is to speak at a wake (a vigil held before burial) of an Alcala believer who was killed as a result of an accident in the construction industry recently. Please pray as Ken addresses the assembled family, that they may see their own spiritual need whilst there is time.

 LOCAL

Informal "Coffee & Chat" morning on Wednesday at 10:30 am. Do pray that this might be used by the Lord to bring people to know the Son of God who loved them and gave Himself for them.

John Wallace of Hartlepool is the expected speaker at our Gospel Service. The number of visitors attending recently has been disappointing, so please continue to pray  the Lord will send those He wants us to reach and build relationships with.
