Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 27 - 04 - 09

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale, but this is not currently available on the web site.

ANGOLA

Please continue to remember Brian Howden and Stephen Richardson (Jarrow) and their visit to Saurimo and Ruth Hadley.  Brian is due to return on the 4th May. Details of their visit is included in further items for prayer.

TANZANIA

Allan (right) and Jacqui McKinnon Moshi) would like to thank those who prayed during the two-week visit of the GLO team. Over 80 children enjoyed a wonderful camp, and four of them gave their lives to Christ. Three of these were from the centre and one was from the community project. Please pray this week as Allan and Jacqui meet with their fellow CMML missionaries for their four-day AGM. The others will be coming from Moshi, Dar-es-Salaam and Kigoma.

ZAMBIA

Please pray for Doreen Barker (Chingola), who will be speaking at a women’s conference in Kalulushi together with two other ladies, Gertrude Mutenda and Masalena Mwambu. The conference is takng place from 27th April to 2nd May. Pray for a time of blessing for all who attend.

PAKISTAN

Echoes have received a report expressing concern about the current situation with the increasing influence of the Taliban in that land. There is increased tension and Christians are worried about their safety. Please pray for their protection and that the problems will not worsen.

MEXICO

Pam Jewitt reports about the outbreak of swine flu in Mexico City, where many are sick or have died. Many are living in fear and the streets are fairly empty. All schools and public areas have been closed, including all churches, and if the virus continues to spread they may have to close the airport and public transport. Praise God that nobody from the fellowship or from Ministerios de Amor has been affected so far. Pray that the believers will be able to demonstrate their trust in the Lord and that God will be glorified in this situation. The fellowship went ahead with a concert last Friday and Saturday nights, but the children’s presentation has been postponed till 10th May, which is Mother’s Day (USA).

FRANCE

Alan and Valerie Kyle (Dunkerque) are having a special church weekend on 2nd and 3rd May with Philippe Perrilliat from Marseille as the guest speaker. They are hoping that a number of folk from Rambouillet will join them. Pray for the Lord’s blessing on this time of fellowship.

Give thanks that Alison Packer (Laval) is now home from hospital and able to eat small amounts. However, some of her symptoms still persist, even though scans are unable to detect the cause of this. Please pray for complete healing for her, and for strength for Mike as he supports her and cares for the family.

Briand and Helene Tatford will be attending a 12-day convention of churches, being held in the Marseille area next week. They are making plans for Luis Palau to hold an outreach in Marseille in 18 months’ time. Please pray for all the administrative arrangements.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Noel and Liza McMeekin have now completed their final week of Postal Bible School prize givings. Please pray that the Lord will continue to speak to those who have heard the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ over the past couple of months, and that the seed sown will bear fruit in due course.

LOCAL

"Coffee & Chat" each Wednesday morning at 10:30 am.

John Hall (Harrogate) is planned to be with us on Sunday evening, 3rd May, for the preaching of the Gospel.  It looks like being one of those week-ends when a number of our own Assembly  are away, so if you can get along, it will be a great help.
