MISSIONARY PRAYER NEWSLETTER DECEMBER 2009

ANGOLA

Brian Howden continues with his visit to the Saurimo area until the 12th December.  Until then he is spending 8 days in a number of meetings with Assemblies in the Xa-Muteba area.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO

John Hanley (ex Auchlochan, Lesmahagow), who recently visited Congo, reports that there has been conflict between government forces and Mayimayi rebels in the area of Mboko, where he ministered. The population was scattered, but some have returned to their homes. Please pray for protection for the believers.

Mary Ratter (Katoka) sends the latest edition of the Katoka Chronicles.  It deals maily with the passing of Cathy Rew, and Mary’s tribute to her, plus an update on Willie Rew’s health. The full letter is on the Notice Board in the Small Room.

MALAWI

Jonathan and Ruth Newell (Blantyre) are planning a furlough from January next year. Pray that they will be able to find suitable schools for their 3 children to attend whilst they are in the UK.

Stephen & Gail Harper  (Thondwe) (left) ask for prayer regarding a serious fuel crisis which is affecting Malawi at present. There are long queues at filling stations in Blantyre when fuel is available. If these problems are prolonged, they will cause serious hardship for many people.

TANZANIA

Ron and Maria Cunningham (Moshi) request prayer for their schools ministry. Over the past year, they have been able to sell 280 Bibles to the students at a reduced price. Ron has been able to teach the Word of God in four schools, and requests prayer for the older children who are taking final exams and will be leaving soon. He will continue teaching one A level class, which has 100 students, until they finish in February next year.

ZAMBIA

Eric and Margaret McCaughren (Kitwe) ask us to pray for the Bibles they distribute to students and young people, including a number of English/Chinese Bibles for Chinese people. One lady was really thrilled to receive a Bible she could read. Pray for God’s Word to have its effect among the Chinese community.

INDIA

Ron Penny (Bangalore) requests prayer for two Indian full-time evangelists, Timothy and Ranjit, who carry heavy and strategic responsibilities in North India. They have both suddenly developed high blood pressure, which is affecting their ability to do their work. Timothy has been organising relief work for the Aila Cyclone victims as well as mobilising outreach teams in West Bengal. Ranjit is a young man who works in Madhya Pradesh and has effective ministries in villages. Pray for their speedy recovery.

BOLIVIA

Kenny and Claudia Holt (Trinidad-Beni) return to the UK this month till next June. A family prayer update is posted on the Notice Board in the Small Room.

FRANCE

Ian and Francoise Newberry (Pierrelatte) are considering the possibility of having a couple from Geneva Bible College coming to Pierrelatte for a year of practical training in the church. A couple will visit at the beginning of December. Pray that they will be clearly guided in this matter.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND
Noel and Liza McMeekin would value prayer for Noel as he visits over 3,000 rural homes with a gospel calendar and literature, and also the 1,000 homes in Cootehill. Pray for open doors and receptive hearts.

NORWAY

Nat and Jennifer Rodgers (Skien) ask for prayer for their friend Eivind, who is seriously ill with an inoperable brain tumour. He and his wife Liv have been serving the Lord in Greenland. Another man in their assembly, Erik, has had surgery for a brain tumour which involved having his eye removed. Prayer would be valued for him and his wife Eve.
