Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 14-12-09

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  The prayer requests listed here are, as far as is sensibly practical, for activities that are happening on the particular week. A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

The Assembly also publishes a monthly Missionary Prayer Newsletter, for prayer requests on a longer time-scale. Click here for this month's prayer newsletter.

DEM. REP. OF CONGO

Mary Ratter has visited William Rew and says he is looking brighter and is no longer on continuous oxygen. Give thanks for this improvement and pray that it will continue.

MALAWI

Jonathan and Ruth Newell (Blantyre) are coming home on furlough on 23rd December. Give thanks that Hannah (aged 11) and Joseph (aged 8) have places in a school which is near to where the family are staying. Joseph, however, has to sit an entrance exam. Prayer is requested for the fourth edition of the Challenge Christian newspaper, 40,000 copies of which have recently been distributed in Malawi.

TANZANIA

Allan and Jacqui McKinnon (Moshi) are grateful to those who prayed for their week away with the children from Moshi Christian Children’s Centre. They had a good time, and only suffered one flat tyre during the journey. Pray for Allan and Jacqui as they now prepare to return to the UK.

ZAMBIA

Please pray for Helen Finnie (Hillwood), who is unwell and in hospital after suffering a snake bite.

JAPAN

Charles Lawrence (Fukushima) will have his final chemotherapy treatment on 28th December, and then a test on 7th January. Give thanks that the Lord gave him strength for his recent preaching engagements in Kyushu.

BELGIUM

Anne Dryburgh (Gent) asks for prayer support as she leads a group of women at the Assembly in Kuurne on different subjects related to depression. The themes include: The Cross; Our hope in Christ; Dealing with regret and guilt; Dealing with fear; People Pleasing; Living as a new person in Christ.

FRANCE

David and Brigitte Sutherland (Arras) request prayer for their Christmas family outreach on 20th December, and also a special evangelistic event on 31st January.

Gerry and Dorothy Seed (Nantes) would value prayer for their annual Christmas programme during the weekend of 19th and 20th December.

SPAIN

Ken and Alison Barrett (Madrid) ask for prayer for a student evangelistic supper to be held today, 16th December. Please pray for boldness for the leaders of the group and for conviction among those attending. On 19th December, the Alcala and Azuqueca congregations have organised a Christmas dinner with invited guests, as a means of evangelism. The special Christmas presentation at Alcala is planned for 20th, and this year they have been granted the use of the local civic hall, which they have not used for five years. Please pray for these events.

LOCAL

The Carol Service is planned for this Sunday (D.V.) at 6:30 pm. 500 invitation cards have been distributed to local housing. Mr David Cartwright  will be responsible for preaching the Christmas message.

There will be NoMissionary Prayer Requests” next week, but it is expected (D.V.) that there will be something on the 29th  December

A very Joyful Christmas to all Readers.
