Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 11- 02 -2008

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

ETHIOPIA

National worker Mulugeta Ashagre advises that a children’s camp is to be held from 12th-15th February. Please pray that those who  attend will enjoy their time together and will come to know the Saviour and influence their families and friends for Him.

RWANDA

Jano and Chrissie Mulindabigwi (Kigali) request prayer for a team of 5 people who are going out from Northern Ireland to visit them. They will stay for ten days, from 7th-17th February, and will be shown all aspects of the work in and around Kigali. Pray that they will be kept in good health and for safety in travel.

Following the recent earthquake, Echoes has sent a gift from the Disaster Fund to help victims. Chrissie Mulindabigwi (right) says: ‘The island of Nkombo, which is just off the mainland and between Congo and Rwanda, was badly hit. All of the 460 homes are destroyed or badly damaged, including the school and our two churches under construction. Eight people have died and 80 are in hospital from this small island. The reason that the information is trickling out is because of the inaccessibility of the island. The men who usually row the boats are too scared to sail for fear of another quake. In Cyangugu town many houses now have cracks in them. Yesterday, people were just relieved to be alive and so today are assessing the damage. Please pray for our believers and for us as we visit and see how we can help.’

ZAMBIA

Doreen Barker (Chingola) is coming home on 16th February, to help care for her daughter Pamela, who was planned to have surgery on 12th. Please pray for Pamela, her husband and their two teenage children, as well as for Doreen as she travels. Doreen is booked to return to Zambia on 16th May, but will stay in the UK beyond that date for as long as she is needed.

MEXICO

Eglon and Judith Harris are planned on 16th February to be in Grajales for a regional music seminar. This involves studying hymns during the morning and then giving a performance in the evening to around 200 people. In addition, Eglon and Judith are re-editing a hymn book used mainly in Sunday school, together with the music edition scored for various instruments, as a good number of assemblies are encouraging believers of all ages to learn to read music and form music groups to lead the singing. Pray, too, for their daughter-in-law Grissel, facing great pain and discomfort because of terminal cancer.

PANAMA

Clive and Hazel Walker are travelling to Panama on 13th February. (They will be included in the March Echoes).  Please pray for them and for their younger daughter Judith as they settle into their work and service for the Lord. They were previously with the New Tribes Mission.

FRANCE

Give thanks that Alison Packer is now home from hospital. She needs to put on weight, but is having difficulty eating the right amount of food so has a tube feeding her at night.

Colin Crow (Montpellier) will be visiting Reunion Island and Madagascar from 12th February to 19th March. His main purpose is to work with church leaders in the south of Madagascar  concerning a home which is being built for orphans and poor children. Pray for wisdom in finding the right personnel to run the home and teach the children.

Ronnie and Heather Skene (Figeac) (right) are in Northern Ireland from 11th February-7th March for report meetings and visits, and request prayer for the assembly in their absence. Pray especially for Pascal, who, in spite of a very demanding job, is fully committed to the work.

REPUBLIC OF IRELAND

Noel and Liza McMeekin continue their Postal Bible School prize giving this week in Lifford, Newbliss and Ballybay. Please pray for safety as they travel many miles, for God’s presence at the meetings and for help for the speakers as they seek to make the gospel message known to many who are not used to hearing it.

ITALY

Adino and Eleanor Ricossa (Mombella Monferrato) request prayer for a special outreach event being held at Crescentino on 16th February, when Mr R. Wiskin will be speaking on ‘Creation or Fossils’. Please pray that people will have a desire to attend and that the Lord will speak to them through this presentation.

SPAIN

Ken and Alison Barrett ask for continued prayer for health and strength over the last few days of their Peruvian tour. The changes of climate from the coast to the highlands have given Ken a heavy cold. Please pray for spiritual freshness and relevance. They return to Spain on Thursday, Ken has to prepare two teacher training seminars for the Saturday.

LOCAL

"Coffee & Chat", 10:30 am to 12:00 pm, on Wednesday, 13th February. Please pray that if it is the Lord's will, this informal time together will be used by Him to bring real blessing to those living in the locality of the Gospel Hall.

John Hall (Harrogate) is responsible for the Gospel Service this coming Sunday at 6:30 pm.
