Prayer Requests for Week Commencing 03 - 11 - 08

The following information comes mainly from the Echoes weekly prayer bulletin and further details can be found on their web site. Other prayer requests have come from direct communication with the missionary involved.  A list of previous weekly Missionary Prayer requests can be found here.

ANGOLA

Brian Howden will be making a return visit to Angola from 7th-29th November and hopes to visit assemblies in the Cuilo area for the first time. There is a great hunger for the Word of God among the believers in this area, so pray for the Lord’s blessing on Brian’s ministry.

REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA

Rodney and Joy Brown are rejoicing that two people have come to the Lord during the gospel meetings in Cape Town. Very good numbers, many of whom are unbelievers, have been attending for four weeks now. The meetings were due to finish on Sunday 2nd, but because of the level of interest shown it was decided to continue until Wednesday 5th. Please pray that during these last few days others will come to know the Saviour.

TANZANIA

Ron and Maria Cunningham (Moshi) are grateful for your prayers for the week’s gospel meetings at Uchira. The daily average daily attendance was about 120, among them a number of people from the community who trusted the Lord for salvation. One lady, who had heard an invitation to the meetings by loudspeaker, walked a great distance to be there. On the Friday, the team stopped at a town on the main Himo highway to announce the meetings. Just as they were about to move away, two young ladies ran towards them, shouting for them to stop. They asked if the team would pray with a very sick woman who lived a distance away from the main road, which they were glad to do. The widow was seriously ill and the team was able to pray for her and her little family. It is hoped that contact with the family will be maintained. Please pray.

 PHILIPPINES

Please pray for Jonathan Bradford as he teaches ‘Basic Doctrines’ to a group of 600 new students at Christ’s Commission Fellowship each Wednesday evening and Saturday morning throughout November. The classes will include tests, assignments and a final exam. Workbooks and PowerPoint presentations are currently being prepared.

 PERU

Please pray for former missionaries Guy and Jocelyn Pembroke, who are visiting Peru from 8th-24th November, firstly to teach at the Bible Institute in Trujillo, alongside Luis Mostacero and Richard Harknett, and then to visit believers in Cajamarca. Pray for safe travel and that the Lord will give help during this period.

EASTERN EUROPE

Please pray for Martin and Margaret Baker as they visit assemblies in Poland from 28th October-10th November for Bible ministry and gospel preaching.

FRANCE

Colin Crow (Montpellier) reports a positive move towards the purchase of a piece of land for a new church building and requests prayer that the assembly members will have wisdom to make the right decisions. A quick sale of their current property would be a blessing and an encouragement – as well as a miracle in the current unfavourable economic situation.

SPAIN

Ken and Alison Barrett (Madrid) request prayer for the Thursday night city centre open-air team. Please also remember in prayer a visit to Avila from 7th-9th November for ministry of the Word in the assembly there. The few believers in fellowship have a burden for outreach in the Tietar Valley. May the ministry given confirm the help the Lord has more regularly given to the believers through Tim Glasscock from Salamanca.

LOCAL

"Coffee & Chat" on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 am

David Clark (Redcar) is planned to be with us on Sunday evening for the preaching of the Gospel.
