ETHIOPIA
Please continue to
pray
for the Bible School in
Chobi.
Pray
for the students who attend and that the
teachers will receive wisdom and help from
the Lord during this time. Remember
particularly
Keteme Geleta, as he leads the
teaching this week, from
2nd-7th,
and for Kasa
Shiferaw who will take over on
7th until
14th.
MADAGASCAR
Colin Crow
(Montpellier, France) requests urgent
prayer
regarding the current situation in
Madagascar. There is much unrest, with
rallies and even violence taking place.
Forces supporting the Mayor of
Tananarive,
the capital, and opposing the President,
have been organising public demonstrations
during the past few days. All calls for calm
and negotiations have failed so far. There
have been at least 30 deaths in
Tananarive,
and over 20 in
Tulear,
where believers are building an orphanage.
In addition to these problems, there have
been two cyclones recently, one in the east
and one in the west, which have caused
considerable damage to believers’ homes and
churches, especially in
Morondava.
Please pray
for the protection of believers, and for a
rapid return to normality so that the work
can continue.
TANZANIA
Please
pray
for Allan
and Jacqui McKinnon (Moshi) as they
return to Tanzania on
7th February
after a year in the UK.
Pray
for safe travel and that they will quickly
settle back to the work in
Moshi.
Ron
and Maria Cunningham (Moshi) would
value prayer
for the secondary school ministry, which
started last week after a three-month break.
At one school there was a special assembly
but the speakers did not turn up, so
Ron,
who was in another area of the school, was
redirected to this group and invited by the
students to share the Word of God with them.
He spoke for 25 minutes to around 400
students. Please
pray
that this ‘chance’ opportunity will bear
fruit.
ETHNIC
MINORITIES
Ruth Cushing
moved out of her Preston home on 31st
January.
Pray for her as she starts a new
programme, working just two days a week in
Preston and two in Liverpool.
FRANCE
Ten year-old
Lara was called into the presence of
the Lord in the early hours of the morning
on 2nd February, after three and a half
years of illness. Give thanks for her life
and for the faith she had. Please
pray
now for her parents,
Fabienne and
Peter, and her sister
Juliette,
that the Lord will uphold and speak peace to
their hearts at this sad time.
Pray,
too, for her aunt and uncle,
Lucette and
Daniel, who have supported the
family, as have
Mike and
Alison Packer (Laval) who have kept
us updated on Lara’s progress.
REPUBLIC OF
IRELAND
Please remember
Noel and
Liza McMeekin in your
prayers
as they start the round of Postal
Bible School prizegivings for another
year. On 4th
February they will be in
Lifford,
moving on to
Castleblaney on 6th and
Sligo
on 7th. Please
pray
for a sense of God’s presence and for help
for the speakers as they make known the
gospel message.
Liza
would value
prayer as she currently has a lot of
pain in her shoulder and back.
